This Alba (Dawn in Italian)incense recalls the smell of coffee that gives us the needed kick to start the day, to set our intentions, to rearrange our plans, thoughts and vibrations for the day. It wakes up our senses, body, and mind.

Alba sustainable Incense is formulated with the coffee essential oil derived through a cold-pressed distillation process of the Italian mild roasted coffee beans. The benefits of coffee oil come from its composition of plant sterols, as well as linoleic and oleic acid, among other anti­ inflammatory and antioxidant compounds.

“Tonka’s story began in a jar of pink peppercorns. Rummaging in the spice cupboard, we discovered that beneath their peppery notes, the dried berries of the Peruvian pepper tree have a finely balanced floral fruitiness to their aroma. The tonka bean provides the elegant and earthy finishing touch.”

Laboratory Perfume's second scent owes its existence to a gorse-lined driveway in Provence. Captivated by the coconut-infused air surrounding the yellow flowers of the gorse bushes, Laboratory Perfumes master fragrance-makers set about creating a scent that captured the essence of summer in the countryside.

Moroccan Memoir

“After a family holiday in Morocco, I spent weeks rifling through tins of pipe tobacco in a specialist store in Mayfair to find the right base for a scent that evoked the rich, leathery smells we discovered in the mountains.”

Inspired by the scents and scenery of Morocco’s Atlas Mountains, this unisex fragrance is built around the aroma of pipe tobacco. Layers of rum, vanilla and hay are topped with cinnamon, ginger and black pepper, wrapped in the woody warmth.

Nostalgia is a form of time travel for emotions, and scent can be the most powerful way to trigger it. For Laboratory Perfumes, a whiff of pipe tobacco can be enough to unleash a fond flood of childhood memories into the hippocampus. So, when it came to determining the base for their fifth fragrance, Laboratory Perfumes chose something very personal – that earthily aromatic tobacco note.

With the help of a knowledgeable but somewhat bemused tobacconist, they went through dozens of different blends and cures in search of the right scent to build upon. The one they settled on had a whisper of the exotic, reminiscent of Morocco, so back in the lab, they introduced supportive layers of rum, vanilla and hay that intensified its North African character. Spiced with cinnamon, ginger and black pepper, and complemented with the warming, woody aromas of fine Cognac, the result is a complex and confident fragrance that unveils intriguing new layers and facets as the day goes on.
